To make outings of citizens more convenient, the development of smart bus stop signs have been listed in the “Smart City” development plan of Shanghai Municipality and the “13th Five Year Plan” for public transportation in Shanghai. Shanghai Pudong New District government attaches great importance to the development of smart public transportation and after discussions among relevant departments, Shanghai Pudong New Area Transport Trade Association, Shanghai Pudong New Area Public Transportation Investment Development Co. , Ltd, Shanghai Pudong New Area Public Transportation Co. , Ltd, Shanghai Pudong New Area Urban Transportation Management Agency, Shanghai Industrial Technology Institute and Shanghai Culture Development Co. , Ltd decided to hold “2017 Design Competition of Smart Bus Stop Sign in Shanghai Pudong” to further stimulate the public enthusiasm towards construction of smart public transportation in Pudong New District and together enhance the service level of the public transportation industry in Pudong.

Smart bus stop signs aim to provide comprehensive information about public transportation and real-time interactive service including transportation consulting, real time traffic status and dynamic information about buses.
.Design Principles
√ Functions and public benefits should be taken into consideration.
√ A harmonious relationship between the signs and surrounding environment is required, with highlights on aesthetic sense and practicability.
√ Interaction between people and signs should be enhanced with various methods to enhance public awareness and interactive joy.
√ Across-boundary design, creative mind, multidisciplinary cooperation, use of new material, new technology and new process are all encouraged.

a. The first round of preliminary design works are going to be reviewed from May 2, 2017 to May 9, 2017. Selected design schemes can step into the next step for further development, designers of which will be informed by e-mail. b. The final evaluation will be made by the organizers and general citizens, through which first prize will be awarded to the best design. The organizers will send written notice to the designer and coordinate with them to promote optimization design and process design.
c. The finally winning design will be publicized on http://www.siti.sh.cn and Wechat “Shanghai institute of industry technology intelligent transportation center” for a week.
