To Exploit Regional and Institutional International Collaboration New Models

——Austin Delegation from Texas, USA, Visited SAST and SITI and Signed MoU

On the afternoon of July 11st, Mayor of Austin, Texas, USA, Mr. Steve Adler visited SAST and SITI Zhangjiang HQ with a delegation. Mr. Niu Xiaoming, president of SAST and SITI, Mr. Shi Qian, vice president of SAST and SITI, and departments leaders and researchers from SAST and SITI participated the meeting and the two sides exchanged ideas and discussed about regional and institutional international collaboration new models. On behalf of SAST and SITI, Mr. Niu Xiaoming signed the MoU between Austin and SAST and SITI.

During the discussion, Mr. Niu Xiaoming gave an introduction of SAST and SITI and focuses of work, especially the background of establishment and construction objects of SITI, and also gave a lot of examples of technology innovations in bio-medicine, smart city, services for startups and entrepreneurs and proposed innovative routes and models for regional and institutional international collaborations. Mr. Steve Adler introduced the history of Austin and its recent development key areas and pointed out that there could be a lot of interaction and joint topics between the two sides especially in the fields of bio-medicine, smart city, big data analysis and application technologies, entrepreneurship and incubation, etc. Austin delegation members including participants from the municipal department of economic development, chambers of Commerce, enterprises and investment institutions, as well as participants from department of science and technology development, planning department of SAST, smart manufacturing department, bio-medicine department, green energy department of SITI all gave active responses to their talks, expressing willingness and suggestions for strengthening cooperation between the two sides.

Austin, the capital of Texas, USA, has driven development with innovation, attracting a large number of high-tech talent and enterprises, and has become a well-known high-tech center, known as the "SiliconHill". It shelters the headquarters of such well-established companies as Freescale Semiconductor, Inc., and Dell. The flagship of University of Texas - University of Texas at Austen, is also located in the city. Comprehensive cooperation with the city of Austin, is significant for the construction of international innovation community by SAST and SITI. The two sides would strengthen exchanges and cooperation in the fields of smart manufacturing, electronic information, biomedicine, materials science, energy and the environment and other cross-disciplinary researches and industrial applications, industrial data analysis and applications etc.
