On August 1st, the 2nd Sino-German Industry 4.0 Development Forum and the 2nd Sino-German High-tech Investment Meeting today was successfully held at Jinqiao Branch of SITI, co-organized by China-Germany Industry 4.0 Research Center of Shanghai Industrial Technology Institute, China-Germany Industry 4.0 Alliance, Shanghai Small-Medium Enterprise Development Service Center, and Shanghai CT Hi-Tech Entreprenurial Service Co., LTD, with great support from 5 assisting organizers including China-German Innovation Center (GIC).

Invited guests and speakers include Mr. Franzjosef Schafhausen, former director general of Climate Change Policies, National, European and International Affairs, at the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Germany, Prof. Walter Konhauser, ex-chairman of Siemens Mobile Communications, branch president, Association of Electrical Engineers, chair of professional committee of batteries, Fraunhofer Society, professor at Berlin University of Science and Technology, Prof. Jurgen Heschelor, director of Institute of Neurophysiology, Cologne University, and chief scientist of Heschelor Research Institute at SITI, Mr. Wang Hongrong, GM, Shanghai Ingenious Automation Technology Co Ltd., Dr. Neddermeyer, VMT, Germany, Mr. Yin Chunrong, director of National Semi-conducting Light Application System Engineering Research Center, etc. Leaders from co-organizers include Mr. Shi Qian, vice president of SITI, Mr. Wei Bingwu, vice director, Shanghai Small-Medium Enterprise Development Service Center, and Dr. Zhou Xiangqian, chair of executive board, China-Germany Industry 4.0 Alliance, attended the opening and delivered speeches. The activity was hosted by Dr. Li Xiaoli, vice director, China-Germany Industry 4.0 Research Center of Shanghai Industrial Technology Institute.

On the forum, Dr. Zhou Xiangqian, chair of executive board, China-Germany Industry 4.0 Alliance, gave a talk on how to connect to the startups in Germany and introduce them to China market, explaining innovative models and approaches for high-tech startups of Germany to enter into China from such aspects as establishment of China-Germany angel funds, sources of technology products, professional team organization in China, and typical examples. Mr. Franzjosef Schafhausen, former director general of Climate Change Policies, National, European and International Affairs, at the Federal Ministry of the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety, Germany, explained industry 4.0 and means of smart city by applying such concepts as collaboration and synergy and expressed that the aim was to create more jobs, save energy, reduce energy import and consumption, by creating a city of future. Prof. Walter Konhauser, ex-chairman of Siemens Mobile Communications, branch president, Association of Electrical Engineers, chair of professional committee of batteries, Fraunhofer Society, professor at Berlin University of Science and Technology, stated the 6 principles for designing industry 4.0 – interoperability, virtualization, decentralization, real-time capability, service orientation and modularity. And he presented the next generation mobile communication structure and grid battery energy storage solution with emphasis, particularly on the transformation of centralized energy generation to decentralized generation which could largely reduce the cost and will be the important technology for the future smart grid. Other invited speakers presented very strong and professional technologies in the field of industry 4.0 including newest HANA storage platform for SAP system and solutions, 3D optic sensors and accurate analysis and measurement with big data technology, flexible production line, smart internet of light and smart city.

On the Sino-German High-tech Investment Meeting held at the same time, the leading-edge technologies and products brought by the top scientists and companies of Germany including multi-functional stem cells, tooth plantation technology, casting technology, temporary intestinal clog material, three-dimensional ultrasonic body scanner, etc. attracted much attention and quite many financial institutions in China came to their tables to discuss and initial collaboration intention has been reached on some projects, with promises of further discussion in the near future.

Other participants of the activity include department leaders of Shanghai Economy and Information Technology Committee, Pudong District Development and Reform Commission, experts and enterprise representatives from Germany seeking for technology transfer in China and from Shanghai Linggang Group, Pudong Software Park, Baosteel Group, ZPMC, Guangwei Group, 3M, as well as friends from investment circle including Hechang and Zhongtai, and media including Jiefang Daily and Wenhui, and from enterprises and various circles of Jiangxi, Jiangsu, Hubei and other provinces.
