It is one of the achievements resulted from the Shanghai Municipal Key and Important Science Problem Shooting Project “3D Printing Equipment Related Technologies and Applications” during the “12th Five Year” period. Developed by the smart manufacturing team of SITI, it solved the key technology problem in metal 3D printing and has been transferred and sold on market. This achievement could be directly applied to such fields with high added values as aerospace, automobile, mould, and medical instruments.

Features
The printer could completely melt metal powder with high energy laser and form close to full density metal parts directly. It can be used for shaping any complex parts, shortening the product prototyping period and lower development costs. Furthermore, it applies the module design concept with open system and programs from open sources. It could be used in studies on performance assessments of various core components, softwares, as well as materials, as a technical route to the future upscaled low cost production with metal powder, influencing the development of relevant industries including new materials and equipment and enhancing the industrial transformation and capacity upgrading in Shanghai.
The printing quality of the printer has reached the frontline of the world with partial structure designed better than the peers of other countries and higher cost advantages. Materials could be used on the printer include tool steel, stainless steel, titanium alloy, nickel alloy and aluminum alloy.
