Talent is the core element of technology innovation. In recent years, SITI orients closely towards the strategic target of science and technology innovation center and strictly carries out the new policy of talents. In August 2016, SITI carried out the “Innovation Pioneer” project with its own funding to select 10 proposals out of 33 individual/team applicants. The average age of the applicants is 33, and the projects covers areas of biomedicine, big data, 3D printing, and laser technology, providing the first bucket of gold for the growth of young science and technology talents.

During the implementation of the projects, SITI management followed the progress of the projects and also provided assistance, at the same time, improved the application procedure accordingly. The affiliated units also provided good supports towards the projects with funding and facilities, adding more momentum towards the independent innovation of the projects. During the half year of implementation, the projects have obtained good achievements. For example, the project of “Development and application of knowledge mapping database for science and technology big data services”, led by Dr. Dai Bingrong of the Software Center, has developed the systematic tools for industrial data observation and visualization and is now focusing on requirements of quality monitoring and new finance to propel the translation of the achievements into specific applications. The project of “Development of bioinformatics analysis software for tumor multi-omics data”, led by Dr. Qin Guangrong of Bioinformatics Center, focuses on bio info visualization, simplifying analysis and dynamic modelling. The team has development a prototype with relevant enterprises and equipped it with basic data one-stop analysis and display capacity, providing a convenient and reliable analysis method of pathological mechanism of diseases, more reliable screening of molecular markers for diagnostic, and development of targeted drugs.

In 2017, SITI will continue the policy of talent recognition and utilization and carry out the “Force Gathering Action” to attract and cultivate high level experts and innovators. At the same time, the Innovation Pioneer Project will continue, with exploration of optimizing talent gathering platform and talent cultivation mechanism.
