On June 11th, the Collaboration Workshop for South Asia – Shanghai Scientists was held successfully at SITI. Sponsored by China-South Asia Technology Transfer Center and International Collaborations, China Ministry of Science and Technology, the workshop was the first event at Shanghai for the visit of the delegation of South Asia young scientists to China. Participants include 21 delegates from different fields and from countries of Afghanistan, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, as well as more than 10 platform mangers and innovation pioneers from SITI, relevant staff from Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center and Yunnan Institute of Science and Technology Information.

The workshop was hosted by Dr. Zhihui Chen, Technology Exchange Manager at SITI, and on the workshop Mr. Guangshun Liu, vice director of Shanghai Science and Technology Exchange Center, gave an introduction of the delegation and pointed out that the visit arrangement of the delegation of South Asia young scientists to China was a measure to carry out the “One Belt One Road Technology Innovation Action Scheme” and was a very nice opportunity for the two sides to communicate and learn from each other. Mr. Qian Shi, vice president of SITI, expressed his warm welcome to the delegation of South Asia young scientists and hoped that the two sides would take this chance to actively participate various activities of communication with passion and would get fruitful achievements.

During the activity, the delegation of South Asia young scientists also visited the Flexible Display Technology Platform, Metal 3D Printing Technology R&D Platform, Smart City Experience Pavilion and the Exhibit Area on 5F. Dr. Xiaoli Li, vice director of strategic consulting, director of Industry 4.0 Platform, SITI, and Dr. Zhimin Wang, director of stem cell research platform, bio-medicine department, SITI, gave talks about “Innovation Development at Industry 4.0 Era” and “Stem Cell Researches and Applications”. The delegation showed great interest in the talks and the laboratory tour and actively communicated on the state of art of stem cell research in China, IP issue in int’l collaborations, and how to apply smart transportation technology to improve the traffic situation in India, etc.

The successful event of the Collaboration Workshop for South Asia – Shanghai Scientists was a pleasant starter for the visit of the delegation of South Asia young scientists to China – green and sustainable development communication.
